PICTURE YOUR HAPPY PLACE

Are you sipping coffee on the front porch swing bed watching your kids play hide and seek among azaleas?

Find yourself stretched out poolside smelling sweet jasmine and listening to the palms sway?

Pulling up a chair with dear friends under a winding wisteria canopy and sky full of stars?

So often, this prompt takes our hand and leads us outside - pulling into our drive after a long day, sipping a glass of wine on the porch swing, or feeling grass between our toes.

Landscape design goes far past planting flowers and laying sod - it’s creating an extension of your space. Your sanctuary.

On the pragmatic side, landscape design is more than putting lipstick on a pig; whether your goal is adding significant value to your property, expanding your livable space, adding function and flow to your living areas, creating classic curb appeal or curating showstopper staging for a showing.

At Tidal Creek Designs, this is what we do. We are on a mission to create timeless landscape designs rooted in joy for residential and commercial clients across the Lowcountry.

For nine years and counting, our firm guides its clientele from potential to pruning through our personalized approach, sustainable landscape designs, outdoor furnishings, project management/installation, and industry partnerships.

Together, we will create an outdoor space designed to be your great escape for years to come.

MEET KRISTIAN

FOUNDER, LEAD DESIGNER

Kristian was drawn to design in some form or fashion ever since she can remember; whether it was putting in ponds with her dad or polishing the packaging for her first venture, she knew bringing creative to life was her calling.

Born in Kentucky with deep southern roots, Kristian made her way to Charleston in pursuit of higher education from Johnson & Wales University and to explore her (second) passion for cooking.

While in culinary school, Kristian launched Good Dog Bakery, renowned for all-natural biscuits, treats and bites made with love for all the furbabies. She also had a booth at the Charleston Farmers Market where she met her now husband.

After the two tied the knot and found their nest in 2010, Kristian was inspired by its blankslate of a backyard - rekindling an old flame for landscape design. Deciding to entertain this long-lost love, she enrolled in Trident Technical College and earned her Landscape Design certification that same year.

Unofficially, Tidal Creek Designs was founded in 2011, but stayed mostly on the peripherie for a few years as Kristian came into her own as a business owner and new mom. Feeling strapped and strained, she decided to close the Good Dog Bakery chapter and turn the page, focusing fully on Tidal Creek Designs in 2014 - it was time, and she was ready.

As luck, and proximity to grandchildren, would have it, her parents moved to Charleston soon after she decided to devote her professional time to Tidal Creek Designs. Her dad, a jack-of-all-trades and master woodworker, made a swing bed that would soon snowball into custom planters, outdoor furnishings and more to help bring his daughter’s designs to bloom.

Today, Kristian has sights set on creating timeless landscapes rooted in joy for clients across the Lowcountry.

As a designer, Kristian is inspired by flow and function along with what will flourish for years to come - often seeing the end result in her mind before pen is ever put to paper on plans. Staying true to sustainability and creating striking moments throughout the seasons, her goal for each client is to help them create their view and plant their joy.

When Kristian isn’t designing dreamy landscapes or pushing dirt, you may find her wandering around downtown drawing inspiration from its vast history and picturesque surroundings, tending to her gorgeous gardens and beloved brood of chickens, or somewhere near the water watching for dolphins with her precious pack - her husband, two boys and two pups.
